HAMMERSONIC FESTIVAL (INDONESIA) WITH FREEDOM OF FEAR

We were lucky enough to play at the massive Hammersonic Festival in Jakarta last weekend! Check out the line up below as well as a few photos and video from our set. The video features blast beasts, skank beats and double kick at 240bpm, but also has a more sophisticated quintuplet based section around the middle followed by a drum solo.

Now time to continue learning the material for the next album, my first with the band. I’ll be in the studio in the next few months to get it done!

NEW ELECTRIC KIT FOR DRUM LESSONS & PRACTISE!

I just upgraded my electric drum kit for my drum teaching as well as my personal practise. It’s a doozy of a kit - the Roland VAD307. Practising just got a whole lot more enjoyable!

If you’re in Adelaide and are interested in learning drums with me, please get in touch on 0403 751 774 or liam.weedall@gmail.com. Whether you want to work on really difficult drumming or if you’re a beginner, I can help you out. Same goes for if you want to improve your extreme metal drumming or whether you’re into funk, rock, jazz, pop, fusion, whatever, I’ve got you covered.

FROTH & FURY VIDS, DYSSIDIA PLAYING OUTCAST FESTIVAL IN MELBOURNE

What a day! Jason and co absolutely hit it out of the park with Froth & Fury Fest, one of the most well-run festivals I have played/attended. It ended up selling out with a capacity of 4,000 people including bands and crew! Watch the end of the below Freedom of Fear video to get a look at the massive crowd for both Freedom of Fear and Dyssidia. I didn’t manage to get the camera set up in time for the Dyssidia set due to the short changeover, but I got the other two bands on film. We did get the below awesome Dyssidia photo in front of the crowd though!

Next up, Dyssidia are playing in Melbourne on Dec 16 as part of Outcast Festival which is headlined by our mates in the internationally renowned I Built the Sky. The recording of our album is so close to being finalised, with the mixing happening in the next couple of months. Can’t wait to hear the finished product!

In addition to the shows with my original bands, I’ve also been getting back into playing cover gigs at weddings/parties/functions etc. I’ve been enjoying playing groovy music that people can dance to as a nice change from the heavy progressive stuff I usually play!

FROTH & FURY FEST WITH DYSSIDIA, FREEDOM OF FEAR & IVANYI + NEW CLIFF RACER EP

One of Australia’s biggest alternative music festivals is coming up next month, and lucky for us South Australians, it’s in Port Adelaide at the Pirate Life Brewery and surrounding streets! I’m somehow playing with 3 different bands which is going to be somewhat punishing, but also a lot of fun! The legendary Suicidal Tendencies from the US are headlining amongst some pretty big name Aussie acts.

It’s the first Ivanyi (James Norbert Ivanyi) show in Adelaide for about 5 years so I’m excited to be playing with the boys again in my hometown, including a couple of more recent tunes which are pretty impressive! Here’s one of them that I did a studio playthrough for back at the end of 2020:

In other news, my funky alternative rock band Cliff Racer recently released our second EP entitled ‘That’s the risk you take when you exist’. Check it out here or wherever you stream music. We released a music video for one of the tracks and we’ve also got a couple of videos on YouTube with some studio footage along with the EP recordings. Here’s one of them:
