Hi all, just thought I’d take a moment to share a great review that I received this week from the parent of one of my star students! This young student just completed his AMEB Rock School Grade 5 performance exam and achieved an outstanding grade of 94%! Seeing this sort of progress from my students is incredibly rewarding and I couldn’t be more proud of this student. While I’m on the topic of drum education, I thought it would be good to post a couple of old drum tutorial videos from 2018!

The first one is more of a beginner to intermediate level, where I go through the different broken 16th note rhythms, how to count them and the ideal stickings to use, as well as adding kick drums in the gaps to create linear patterns.

The second one is more advanced as it incorporates 32nd notes, different rudiments, accents, ghost notes and linear patterns. Both of these videos have accompanying PDFs which you can download for free from the Transcriptions section of my website. Enjoy!
