I’ve been teaching the AMEB Rock School syllabus for the last few years now with a few students, so I thought I would share some recent success that my students have had!
One of my students (now aged 15) has gone through grades 3-6 with me and we are now working through the Grade 7 book. She received a score of 91% on her Grade 6 performance exam which is a great effort!
Another student (now aged 11) achieved an outstanding result of 94% on his Grade 5 performance exam last year and even better, was awarded a music scholarship for the prestigious Pembroke School after completing an audition which included a couple of pieces from the AMEB Grade 5 book.
Finally, one of my younger students aged 9 recently completed his first AMEB performance exam, tackling the Grade 2 syllabus and achieving a B+!
If you are in Adelaide and looking for a drum teacher for your child or for yourself, please don’t hesitate to get in touch at 0403 751 774 or liam.weedall@gmail.com. I am located in Para Hills in the north east suburbs of Adelaide and have been teaching drum lessons since 2008.
By the way, there is no requirement to undertake the AMEB course when learning drums with me. I have plenty of other teaching resources which I provide to students in lessons.
In other news, I was just in Sydney to film a music video with the solo artist/guitarist James Norbert Ivanyi and bass player Liam Horgan at the iconic Rancom St Studios. I have been playing live with these guys for almost 10 years and James has done several music videos, but this is the first to feature the full band which is exciting. The drums are programmed by James with incredible detail so it took me a couple of months to learn the song and capture at least 95% of the detail so that my hits match up with the track.
After playing the Perth Froth and Fury Fest in January, Freedom of Fear are supporting Fear Factory (double fear!) from the US on the 21st of May at The Gov in Adelaide. Looking forward to getting out there and playing fast again!
Finally, I released the second drum playthrough from the last Dyssidia album a couple of months ago - check it out below!
