Drum Cam footage

Here's some drum cam footage of my set with Obsidian Aspect when we supported Septic Flesh (Greece) and Fleshgod Apocalypse (Italy) last week. (Yes, I am aware of how ridiculous those band names are!)

In less than two weeks time, my main band Voros will be playing the New Dead Festival with some of the biggest names in Australian metal. Details here. This will also be Josh and Cam's last show with us. Replacing them is Matt Disisto on guitar, from the now defunct band Beyond the Oblivion, which I also played in, as well as James Read on bass, from the also defunct band New Paradigm. Both guys bring a very high level of skill into the band and we have already written 5-6 new songs. Stay tuned for the details of their first show with Voros.

Cheers,

Liam

Meshuggah drum cover

Hi folks,

Here is a drum cover of a Meshuggah song that i recorded recently. The sheet music for this song was transcribed by Troy Wright and can be found here: http://wrightdrums.com/transcripts

I will be recording Rational Gaze by Meshuggah as well as a couple of Voros tracks in a couple of months so keep an eye out for those.

Cheers

Update 8/1/14

Greetings everyone!

Since my last update I've been busy playing with various bands, including cover bands Triplescore and the Baker Boys.

My main band Voros was lucky enough to open for Kataklysm (Canada) and Gotsu Totsu Kotsu (Japan) at Fowlers Live on the 5th of December, with all bands putting on an awesome show! Voros will be launching the physical copy of The Sky Burial EPs this Friday at the Cavern. This starts off a busy January for me in which I will be playing gigs with 4 different original bands, with Beyond the Oblivion heading to Bendigo for a metal festival, and Voros, Jericho's Bird and Obsidian Aspect playing shows in Adelaide. Check out all my upcoming gigs here

In other news, Obsidian Aspect has been announced as the Adelaide support for the Fleshgod Apocalypse (Italy) and Septic Flesh (Greece) tour in May. All instruments have now been completed for the next Obsidian Aspect album, with mixing and mastering to take place in the coming months. For now, here is an unmixed track:

In the next few weeks I will be posting a drum cover of a meshuggah song!

Update 26/08/13

Hi all,

Thought I'd write about the happenings of some of the bands that I am involved with.

Firstly, Beyond the Oblivion will be launching their EP/album on September 14 at the Cavern. My other metal band Voros are also on the line-up for that show, so safe to say I'll be pretty buggered by the end of it! Check the 'gigs' tab for the details of that show. I recorded the drums for this release back in April last year so its great to finally hear the mixes come to life. Check out the lyric video for the title track "Shades of Grey" here:

Speaking of Voros, we have just been announced as the support act for Canada's Kataklysm when they play in Adelaide on the 5th of December. This is our first international support slot so we are stoked to say the least! We released Part II of the Sky Burial EP's a couple of months ago with Part III to be released online in early November. This will be followed by a physical release of the all six tracks later in the year.

Now onto Adelaide death metal band Obsidian Aspect. I just recorded session drums for 6 of their tracks at Against the Grain Studio and I will be recording the remaining 5 songs for their album in about a month or so. This was without a doubt the most challenging recording session I have ever done with some definite PB's in terms of speed. I think the fastest parts were 16ths at 260 bpm which is a massive step up for me. Sure I had to record the really fast parts a couple of bars at a time, but its still me playing it! haha

In a couple of weeks time, I will be playing session drums for the new One Step Beyond album, once again to be recorded at Against the Grain with good ol' Andy Kite whom I've recorded pretty much everything with. OSB has always played with a drum machine just like Obsidian Aspect, so it has been interesting and challenging trying to replicate as well as expand on the programmed drum parts.

Finally, my rock band Jericho's Bird will be releasing some new songs some time soon as well. Keep an eye out for details regarding that one. Also, I should add that I am available to take on new students for drum lessons in Adelaide. That's right, I am a drum teacher in Adelaide and I teach drum lessons. A bit of cheeky search engine optimization for ya hehehe lets hope google picks that up!

Thanks for reading!

Welcome!

Hey everyone,

Welcome to my new website! I’m pleased to announce that the songs for my instrumental tech/prog metal recording project ‘Weedall/Berryman’ are complete and available here for free download.

The tracks feature Mark Palfreyman on bass from one of my favourite bands Alarum. Check them out here. I was super stoked to have him contribute his parts to the songs and I’m really happy with how the songs turned out after waiting nearly two years since recording the drums!

My new band Voros (featuring Davin and Josh from Double Dragon and A Red Dawn) released The Sky Burial EP’s: Part 1 in February and we played our first show on the 12th of April which was loads of fun. We have videos from the gig on our youtube channel

We have several other Adelaide shows lined up over the next few months and we will be releasing The Sky Burial EP’s: Part 2 in late June.

Download the Voros songs for free here

Check out my drum videos here

Stay tuned for more updates

Cheers
